OFFLINE MODE

No Signal? No Problem.

MushingPlan is architected from the ground up to work without internet — because the best trails don't have cell towers.

The Problem with Cloud-Dependent Apps

Most apps become useless the moment you lose cell signal — exactly when mushers need them most.

Training runs in remote wilderness often result in lost data, incomplete tracks, and sync errors.

Cloud-only health records and kennel tasks are inaccessible when you're off-grid for days at a time.

Offline by Architecture, Not Afterthought

Every feature in MushingPlan is designed to work offline first. The cloud is a sync layer, not a dependency.

Local-First Database

All your data — dog records, training logs, kennel tasks, health entries — lives on your device. You own your data and can access it anytime, anywhere.

Conflict-Free Sync

When multiple team members work offline simultaneously, MushingPlan resolves changes intelligently when devices reconnect. No data loss, no overwrites.

Offline Map Tiles

Download map regions before heading out. View full topographic maps, plan routes, and navigate without any network connection.

Background Sync

When connectivity returns, MushingPlan syncs everything in the background — no manual action needed. Training data, health updates, and task completions all sync seamlessly.

Offline Mode — FAQ

What features work offline?

Everything except features that inherently require internet (like payment processing or syncing with other users in real-time). GPS tracking, dog records, health logs, kennel tasks, training analytics, and map viewing all work fully offline.

How long can I stay offline?

Indefinitely. MushingPlan stores all data locally, so there's no timeout or expiration. Whether you're off-grid for an afternoon or a week-long expedition, everything continues to work.

What happens when two people edit the same record offline?

MushingPlan uses conflict resolution strategies to handle concurrent edits. In most cases, changes are merged automatically. If a true conflict exists, you'll see both versions and can choose which to keep.

Do I need to download data before going offline?

Your existing data is always available offline — it's stored locally by default. For map tiles, you'll want to download the areas you plan to visit. New data created offline is available immediately on your device.
